Best registrar for .CO.UK domains

Posted on 02 July 2008

It was a pain in the back-side trying to find a good registrar for .co.uk domains. I’ve had to try out quite a few of the actual UK based registrars before I could decide which was best. I can tell you now, it wasn’t easy.

First of all .co.uk domains can only be registered for a minimum of two years at a time. Almost 90% of the registrars show pricing per year and the UK based registrars don’t even show you the actual cost including VAT - so be careful not to get tricked.

Anyway, so I tried quite a few… heres a list…

1and1.co.uk

I’ve actually had 6-7 domains with them in total for the last 3 years. I really hate the interface, its really hard to navigate and quite clumsy. The customer service however is very good, the pricing is probably the lowest I found and unless you’re a domainer (dealing with more than 10-20 domains) then 1and1.co.uk is recommended.

However, if like me you’re dealing with lots of domains, then I’d recommend you go with one of the others.

Daily.co.uk

Plus I also tested non-uk based registrars who allowed .co.uk registrations…

NameCheap.com

DynaDot.com

GoDaddy.com

Moniker.com
